Guatemala Huehuetenango La Morena SHB
Guatemala Huehuetenango La Morena SHB
Huehuetenango, one of Guatemala’s few non-volcanic coffee growing regions, is known for its dry, warm days and cool nights. This makes for ideal microclimates that support slow, even cherry development. These coffees are bright, clean, and highly sought after for their consistent quality. When we say this coffee is a classic Guat Huehue, we’re talking about a sweet, subtly complex, all day coffee that drops surprise notes here and there but you never gets boring.
More info on our coffee supplier’s Guatemala La Morena Program:
In 2016, Genuine Origin created the La Morena program to give female coffee growers better access to the global supply chain. The program started off small; we worked with four IWCA members to import 32 boxes of delicious, women grown, specialty green coffee beans. It was a micro-lot by all accounts, but roasters were receptive, and the small lot quickly stocked out. Fast forward to 2023: our specialty coffee sourcing team in Guatemala worked with over 800 women farmers spanning the coffee growing regions of Huehuetenango and Baja Verapaz.
Tasting Notes:
